The Emir of Zuru, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi Mika'ilu Sami Gomo III, has commended the Kebbi State Government under Governor Nasir Idris for the free distribution of farm inputs to the state farmers, describing it as the most impactful intervention for farmers in the state in recent years.

The Emir made this commendation on Tuesday while receiving the Kebbi State Governor’s Media Team at his palace in Zuru.

The team is on an advocacy and assessment tour to evaluate the administration’s programs and gather royal counsel on sustainable socio-economic development in the state.

Speaking during the visit, Alhaji Sami Gomo III said the policy extends benefits beyond farmers to include marketers, transporters, agro-allied processing industries, and final consumers.

"Considering the large quantity and variety of farm produce being expected, this intervention will go a long way in providing legitimate and beneficial business opportunities for all stakeholders in the agricultural value chain," the Emir stated.

While applauding the initiative, the Emir recommended a review of the distribution mechanism to ensure greater efficiency and transparency.

"There is the need for the establishment of a committee of people with a track record of integrity, honesty and selfless service to deliver the inputs to the doors of His Excellency's target beneficiaries," he said.

The Emir also expressed appreciation to the state government for the provision of modern vehicles to his office and to the five Chiefdoms within the Zuru Emirate.

In his remarks, the Commissioner of Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK who led the team of four Special Advisers and the Chief Press Secretary, said the purpose of the visit was to assess Governor Nasir Idris’ administration and seek traditional guidance on programs that will drive sustainable development across the state.
