Popular broadcaster and veteran journalist, Hon. Olushola Arike Ayekoto, has emerged as the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the Alimosho Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ayekoto clinched the party’s ticket after defeating her rival, Hon. Mojeed Anjolaiya, by a wide margin during the ADC primary election held last week.
Her emergence followed weeks of consultations and political engagements within the party over who would represent the ADC in the race for the House of Representatives seat. The contest was eventually decided through the party’s primary election, where Ayekoto secured victory.
Reacting to the outcome, party members and supporters in Alimosho expressed confidence in her ability to provide quality representation, citing her political experience, grassroots appeal, and commitment to public service.
According to party faithful, Ayekoto’s background as a professional journalist and public affairs commentator has equipped her with a deep understanding of the challenges facing the people of the constituency.
Speaking after her victory, the ADC flagbearer thanked residents of Alimosho, party leaders, elders, and stakeholders for their support and trust in her candidacy.
She pledged to justify the confidence reposed in her and assured supporters that she would work diligently to represent the interests of the constituency if elected.
Ayekoto also called for unity among party members, urging them to put aside differences and work collectively towards the success of the ADC in the 2027 general elections.
The House of Representatives candidate expressed optimism about the party’s prospects, stating that the ADC is well-positioned to make significant electoral gains across the country in the presidential, governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives, and state assembly elections.
She maintained that with unity and commitment among members, the party could emerge as a strong alternative in Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 polls.
