The African Democratic Congress (ADC) aspirant for the Birnin. Kebbi/Kalgo/Bunza Federal Constituency, Bashar Abubakar Shehu, said he may resign from the party if the injustice done to him during the house of representatives primary is not reversed.
The aspirant, whose father, Abubakar Shehu was the campaign Director General for General Aminu Bande, PDP's governorship candidate in the last governorship election in kebbi State described the injustice done to him by the leadership of ADC in Kebbi State as an open robbery.
While briefing journalists in Birnin kebbi at the weekend, Bashir said he was leading in the primary election when they ordered that the election be stopped and they declared his opponent who was far behind him in the votes already counted as winner.
"The primary election was a sham, a direct a front and setback to democracy in the state.
“These are leadership of the party that have been clamouring for youth inclusion, yet they chose to deny young people the opportunity to participate fully in the democratic election in the state", he said.
He continued that they were on queque when they suddenly stopped the counting of votes with claims that the election would continue later. "We were waiting while an associate of the acclaimed winner, on the instruction of leaders of the party declared him winner", Bashar said.
The aspirant said he may resign from the party because he was not certain of getting justice there. He said "I contacted the appeal committee, but they were not ready to listen to me, which confirmed to me that justice may not be accorded to me".
The ADC aspirant added that after consulting with relevant political stakeholders, he might resign from the party because the party is not sincere about giving the youth opportunity to participate in the election.
