Senator Yunus Akintunde, representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, has donated five operational buses to the City Boy Movement in Oyo State to strengthen its grassroots mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Akintunde made the announcement during a courtesy visit by the Oyo State leadership of the group to his Ibadan residence, as part of ongoing consultations with key political stakeholders across the state.
The lawmaker commended the movement for what he described as “consistent, organised, and youth-driven mobilisation,” noting that it has evolved into a strong political platform connecting young people with leadership.
According to him, the group’s expanding presence across communities has improved political awareness, particularly in hard-to-reach areas.
“In support of your operations, I will be donating five buses. These are essential for coordination, and I am fully convinced that any investment made in this movement is worthwhile,” Akintunde said.
He also reiterated his affiliation with the movement, stressing the need for sustained support for governance. “Our mission is clear—to build and sustain a government that is reliable, responsible, and responsive. While challenges may arise, determination will see us through,” he added.
Speaking during the visit, the State Director of the City Boy Movement, Hon. Olufemi Onireti, disclosed that the group has intensified mobilisation for the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, setting a target of one million votes in Oyo State.
“We are prepared to go all out. Our target is one million votes for President Tinubu in Oyo State, and our mobilisation machinery has been activated across all zones,” Onireti said.
Also speaking, the State Coordinator, Chief Ahmed Ajibola, revealed that the organisation has registered over 50,000 members and established structures across all 351 wards in the state, describing the network as a strong base for grassroots penetration.
The leadership of the movement expressed appreciation to the senator for his support, describing him as a committed ally of youth political participation and grassroots development.
Other members at the meeting reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening mobilisation efforts as political activities ahead of future elections gather momentum in the state.
