The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has called on security agencies to ensure the safety of candidates and officials during the forthcoming examinations conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) across the country.
The appeal was made in a statement issued on Tuesday by MURIC’s Executive Director, Ishaq Akintola, ahead of the examination scheduled to hold from April 16 to April 25, 2026.
Akintola urged key security agencies, including the Nigeria Police, the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, to provide maximum protection for all stakeholders involved in the week-long exercise.
He noted that the appeal was necessary due to the prevailing security challenges in parts of the country, particularly in northern Nigeria.
MURIC specifically highlighted Plateau State as an area of concern, warning that tensions in the state could expose candidates to potential threats at examination centres or while commuting.
The group also identified other states, including Borno State, Katsina State, Sokoto State and Kwara State, as volatile regions where there may be risks of attacks or abductions.
MURIC stressed the need for proactive measures, urging authorities to remain vigilant to ensure a safe and hitch-free examination process nationwide.
