The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has expressed condolences to former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, following the death of his mother, Hajiya Ummah El-Rufai.
Hajiya Ummah reportedly passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026.
In a statement issued on Saturday by its Executive Director, Ishaq Akintola, the group described her death as a great loss and extended sympathies to the El-Rufai family, including his son, Bello El-Rufai.
MURIC thanked Allah for the life of the deceased, noting that her values were reflected in her son’s character. The organisation urged the family to take solace in what it described as divine mercy, emphasizing that there was still hope despite the loss.
The group also prayed for the forgiveness of the deceased and her admission into Aljannah Firdaus.
Meanwhile, MURIC commended the Federal Government for granting temporary bail to El-Rufai to enable him attend his mother’s funeral. It specifically appreciated Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, for their roles in facilitating the gesture.
The organisation noted that similar considerations were not extended in some past cases, citing instances involving former President Muhammadu Buhari and ex-National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki, who were unable to attend their mothers’ funerals while in detention.
MURIC concluded that the decision to grant El-Rufai temporary bail reflects a more humane approach within Nigeria’s justice system.
