Maiden Convocation: AFUSTA' To Award 7,221 Graduands with Degree, Diploma, Certificate

The Vice Chancellor of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology (AFUSTA),Aliero in Kebbi State,  Professor B.G Danshehu has said the institution would conferred degrees, diploma and certificates to 7,221 graduands at its maiden combined convocation ceremony fixed for Saturday, this week.


While briefing journalists on the activities lined up for the convocation ceremony, he said the 7,221 graduands are from 2010/ 2011/ 2023 and 2024 academic sessions.


He said "This maiden convocation coincides with 19 years of sustained academic activities of AFUSTA and it represents the first convocation in the history of the university".


He added that as the 4th substantive Vice Chancellor of the university, his objective in the last 16th month, after his appointment is to transform the institution to a first class university not only in the country but in the world for the greater benefit and development of Kebbi State and Nigeria. "The students welfare, academic excellence and infrastructural development of the university is my priority", he said.


He added that the university would feature formal investiture of it's Chancellor, Dr Muhammad Zayyanu Abdullahi,the Emir of Yauri and confer honorary doctorate degrees on eminent personalities whose leadership, service and contributions to national development and humanity are widely acknowledged. Some of them are the Governors of Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Imo, the Sultan of Sokoto and the Ooni of Ife. He said the convocation lecture would be delivered by Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, the Governor of Borno State.


Professor Danshehu said a comprehensive arrangement have been put in place to ensure a successful, orderly and memorable convocation ceremony. "We count on the continued partnership of the media in projecting this historic milestone and steady growth and achievement of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology", he said.
