The build-up to the 2027 Oyo State governorship election has gathered fresh momentum as Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem (popularly known as AKK), a leading All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial aspirant, announced plans to present his newly launched book to key traditional rulers across the state by December 2025.
Dr. Kareem made the disclosure during a post-event media chat following his successful Town Hall Meeting, Book Launch, and Fundraising Event held in Doonside, Sydney, Australia, which drew a distinguished gathering of Yoruba leaders, professionals, and members of the Nigerian community in New South Wales.
The event, organized in collaboration with the Nigerian Association of New South Wales, Odua Group of New South Wales, and Newcastle Muslim Brothers, featured a blend of cultural displays, intellectual engagement, and strategic discussions on the future of Oyo State.
Dr. Kareem’s book, Our Realistic Tomorrow, which articulates his vision for people-centered governance and sustainable development, was highly commended by attendees for its depth, clarity, and practical approach to transforming Oyo State’s socio-economic landscape.
According to AKK, copies of the book will be formally presented to revered monarchs including the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Alaafin of Oyo, Soun of Ogbomoso, and other prominent royal fathers in December 2025. The royal presentation will serve as a prelude to the Oyo State Edition of the AKK Town Hall Meeting and Book Launch, scheduled to hold in Ibadan in January 2026.
“Our mission is not just about politics — it’s about purpose, vision, and unity,” Dr. Kareem said. “Our royal fathers will be among the first to receive my book because their blessings and guidance are central to the development of Oyo State and the realization of our collective dream.”
He further revealed plans to replicate the Sydney success across other diaspora communities, with similar engagements lined up for Western Australia, the United States, and Canada before June 2026. The initiative, he said, seeks to strengthen the connection between Oyo’s diaspora and local communities in shaping the state’s development agenda.
The Doonside event also doubled as a fundraising platform for the Oyo 2027 Project, where attendees pledged moral and financial support to Dr. Kareem’s vision for a more prosperous and united Oyo State.
