Ipokia, Ogun State — The town of Ipokia came alive in a blaze of glamour, tradition, and entertainment on Friday as Nigerian-American music sensation, Adeola Alhazzan, popularly known as Yinka Rythmz or Mr. Somebody, was honoured with the chieftaincy title of Bobadara of Ipokia Kingdom.
The historic ceremony, which coincided with the 5th coronation anniversary of the Onipokia of Ipokia, Oba Yisa Olusola Olaniyan, transformed the District Primary School grounds into a festival of royalty, music, and culture.
Adding even more sparkle to the occasion, Rythmz’s stunning wife, Dr. Ugonna Hassan Adeola, gracefully received the title of Yeye Bobadara of Ipokia, earning the couple thunderous applause from guests and admirers. Together, the pair radiated elegance and pride, embodying what many described as the perfect blend of love, culture, and stardom.
The event attracted a roll call of prominent traditional rulers—including the Alaafin of Oyo, the Timi of Ede, and the Olu of Ilaro—alongside dignitaries, entertainers, and fans who trooped in to witness history.
For Yinka Rythmz, who has been away from Nigeria for nearly three decades building a legacy as a cultural ambassador in the United States, the conferment was more than just a title—it was a grand homecoming.
Known for his signature Afro-fusion style, Rythmz has dazzled international audiences and won multiple awards, cementing his place as a respected voice in the diaspora. His installation as Bobadara is widely seen as recognition of his enduring contributions to music and the global promotion of Nigerian heritage.
“This is a blessing and a responsibility,” Rythmz said, visibly emotional as he addressed the cheering crowd. “Being honoured as Bobadara of Ipokia is a call to service, and I will continue to use my music, my influence, and my resources to uplift my people and showcase our culture to the world.”
Dr. Ugonna, equally radiant in her traditional regalia, spoke about the weight of her new role with grace. “Becoming Yeye Bobadara of Ipokia is more than a title; it is a lifetime duty to stand beside my husband and serve our people,” she said.
Guests were treated to electrifying live performances, cultural displays, and heartfelt tributes from friends and colleagues in the entertainment industry. Anchored by renowned broadcaster Ambassador Dr. Yomi Mate (Ifankaleluyah) and show host Alhaji Bashir Adisa Babagboin, the event was a perfect fusion of royal heritage and showbiz glamour.
For fans, it wasn’t just about titles—it was a celebration of resilience, culture, and love. With this honour, Yinka Rythmz and his wife now carry the prestigious Ipokia heritage with pride, opening a new chapter in their journey as one of the most admired power couples bridging music and tradition.
