The new Kebbi State Area Command Controller of Customs, Mahmoud Matawalle Ibrahim has said his administration would strengthen the command's revenue collection through transparent processes, automation and data-driven enforcement for national development.

He said his Command would also intensify it's fight against smuggling through intelligence-driven and well-coordinated actions because smuggling is a threat to the nation's economy as it undermines the national security.
On effective border management, he said given the command's strategic position, he would maintain effective border control through close collaboration with sister security agencies and the host communities to enhance security and legitimate trade.

He said "As I take over the reins of this command's leadership, I wish to commend my predecessor, Comptroller Chidi Nwokorie, for laying a solid foundation upon which we shall improve. I intend to build on these successes and take the command to even greater heights".

Comptroller Ibrahim reminded officers and men of the command that their duties goes beyond revenue collection; he said they are protectors of the nation’s borders, defenders of its economy, and facilitators of legitimate trade. "My years in service have taught me the importance of teamwork, discipline, and integrity, and I will continue to uphold these values as we move forward", he said. He added that engaging the stakeholders would deepen trust and foster dialogue, create awareness, and strengthen cooperation.

He said the officers and men of the service are the backbone of the common man, as such his administration would prioritize their welfare and motivate them for professional growth through promotion, training and continuous skill development.  "Let me state clearly that sabotage and indiscipline will not be tolerated under my watch. Accountability will be firm, swift, and fair, in line with established rules and procedures", he said.

He said officers and men who exhibit dedication, professionalism, and commitment to excellence will not go unnoticed as the command would promote a culture where merit is celebrated, and those who excel will be given opportunities for growth and advancement.

Earlier, the outgoing Area Controller, C.C Nwokorie while handing over the baton of leadership of the command to the new Controller enjoined men and officers of the command to support the new Controller for him to succeed in his assigned responsibility. He urged them to always come forward with their challenges and information that will help his successor in the discharge of his responsibility.

The outgoing Controller listed the launching of the Customs Officers Wives Association (COWA ), routine exercise and medical check-up for men and officers of the command as some of his achievements within seven months of his stewardship in the command. He urged them to sustain the training exercise and regular check-up for their health and performance in their assigned duties.
