The Nigerian Model High School, Alakara, Idi-Oro, Old School Association 1989 Set (NIMOSA '89) has inaugurated its newly elected executive council and committees responsible for managing the association's affairs both in Nigeria and abroad. The newly elected President of the association, Mr. Kunle Awonuga, made this announcement in a statement to the press on Sunday, May 18, 2025, in Lagos. Awonuga stated that the official inauguration of the new executive team took place at La Regia Airport Hotel in the Ipaja area of Lagos State and marks the start of a new chapter in positively impacting the lives of the NIMOSA '89 set. He noted that the association has recently seen a significant increase in member engagement aimed at building a stronger NIMOSA '89. Mr. Awonuga emphasized the importance of collaboration, stating, "We still have a long way to go, and only through joint efforts can we achieve our fundamental goals. We encourage all active members to play a role in shaping the future of the Association." He expressed hope that within the next two years, their discussions and agreements would contribute meaningfully to achieving the association's aims and philosophy. Mr. Rasaq Olaniyan, also known as "The King," who served as the host of the event, commended both active members within Nigeria and those in the diaspora for their commitment and support in making the inauguration a success. He also thanked the association's electoral committee and the entire NIMOSA '89 set for their love and humanity. Rasaq, affectionately referred to by his classmates as a "Philanthropist," discussed the formation of working committees and urged members to embrace unity. The event was well-attended by members of the set, as well as representatives from the NIMOSA general body, including both senior and junior alumni. The celebrated former principal, Mr. Titus Gregory Aderemi, encouraged all members to participate in one or more committees overseeing the association's activities and urged them to resolve any differences for the sake of unity. Members expressed excitement about raffle prizes, driven by the anticipation of winning and supporting a good cause. The star prize, an iPhone, was won by Mrs. Omolara Owoborode, while other prizes included a blood pressure device, fabric materials, and cash gifts. According to the electoral chairman, Mr. Kazeem Afolabi Bakare, the election was conducted smoothly and was free and fair. Bakare stated that, in collaboration with the electoral secretary, Mrs. Sekinat Ademola, the electoral body worked with stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive and impartial election, resulting in the following officers being elected and sworn into office on May 18, 2025: - Hon.
