Arrangement have been concluded by the Kebbi State Football Association to kick start the first inter Local Government Governor's Cup competition slated for Sunday 16-2-2025.
The State FA Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Chika Ladan disclosed this while briefing Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, (SWAN) on the level of the preparation for the football competition in the state.

said the football association has introduced five major competitions in 2025 as part of efforts to make maximum utilization of the new FIFA Stadium which was constructed for the development of football in the State. He said the first competition was tagged "Kaura 2025 Inter Local Government Football Competition" and will draw over 450 players across the nook and cranny of the State.
The State FA Chairman noted that the trophy was donated by Dr Muhammad Sanusi who is the General Secretary of the Nigerian Football Federation, considering his love and passion in supporting the development of Football in Kebbi State and beyond.
The state FA chairman explained that the first edition of the competition which is self sponsored will be conducted in four centres of Argungu, Birnin Kebbi, Yauri and Zuru while explaining that the first round will be a knock out assignment in each zone as part of efforts to make proper utilization of time.
He said the tournament which is organized by Football Association will be solely on sponsorship drive while calling on all Local Government participants to make their registration for smooth preparation of the match.
The State FA inform that about One Hundred young players will be selected at the tournament for promotion and as well undergo selection process by foreign scout from Europe for possible trials oversees.
He said the tournament has banned any professional player from participating in the match such as players from Kebbi United Football Club and as well non resident of the state.
The FA Chairman however use the medium and called on supporters of the present administration, sports phylantrophists, sports fans to support the Association in promoting football in Kebbi State.
The FA Boss inform that the opening match will held at FIFA Stadium B/Kebbi and is expected to have in attendance the State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris (Gwarzon Daular Usmaniyya), the State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Umar Abubakar Tafida, Commissioners, Local Government Chairmen, as well as people from all work of life.
He added that the closing match is expected to hold first Saturday after eidl fitr and is expected to have in attendance the President of the Nigerian Football Federation NFF, General Secretary of the Federation, States FA Chairmen, and Sports Fans from withing and outside the country.
