The vigilante group in Kebbi State has arrested two suspected bandits at Janruwa grazing reserve in Kanya area of Danko Wasagu.
The Chairman of Danko Wasagu Local Government, Hussaini Aliyu Bena told newsmen in Birnin Kebbi that he received a call from the District Head of Kanya informing him about the arrest of the two bandits by the Vigilante group patrolling in the area.
The chairman said he rushed to the scene and directed that, the suspects should not be killed but should be handed over to the police and he informed the State Commissioner of Police about the arrest.
He added that during the arrest, one of the bandits tried to escape but with the help of the locals, he was rearrested. He said a member of the vigilante group shot at him but bullets could not penetrate him.
Bena commended the state government for its logistics support to security operatives comprising the vigilante group in the area, he assured the joint security team of continued government support to flush out the criminal elements in the area.
The chairman called on the people to always report any suspicious movement to security operatives in the area.
The Kebbi State Police Command, has confirmed arrest of the two bandits through it's Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar.
