Governor Nasir Idris has approved the domestication of the national policy on food and nutrition in kebbi State.
While giving the approval during the state executive council's meeting at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi the Governor said his administration would continue to focus on the nutritional well-being of women and children in the State.
He said the policy has been domesticated by the state government to add value and strengthen the synergy among sectors and other initiatives of government and partners.
He noted that the recent review of the national policy on Food and Nutrition by the federal government is another major landmark achievement of the present administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in addressing the problem of malnutrition which has been most devastating among children, adolescent, pregnant and lactating mothers.
The Governor said the state government will develop a robust intervention programme and cost effective action plan in driving the implementation of the policy for effective result.
Also in a similar development, the state House of Assembly have also formed a committee on Nutrition and Food Security.
The Speaker Muhammad Usman Zuru said the committee was inaugurated by the speaker of the National Assembly, right Honourable Tajuddeen Abbas
This policy adopted by the state government will no doubt lay a solid foundation for higher productivity and improved physical and mental development of the residents of the State.
