COFAA Calls For Creation Of Budget Line For ISS in Kebbi

The Council for Affirmative Action(COFAA) has called on the Kebbi State Government to include a dedicated budget line in it's 2025 budget.

The council said it would ensure adequate supervision of Primary Healthcare (PHCs) across the State.

The Executive Director of the Council Mr Mbami Iliya Sabka who made the call at a roundtable discussion with journalists in Kebbi State highlighted the importance of media support in influencing the Kebbi State Government in that regards.

Speaking on behalf of a Coalition of Six Civil Society Organizations, titled "Improved Quality Healthcare Service Delivery through Integrated Supportive Supervision ISS" Mr Sabka emphasized that the initiative is important towards improving the Healthcare Services in the State.

The Director General describe Integrated Supportive Supervision (ISS) as an intervention designed to to facilitate quality improvement by ensuring adequate oversight and transfer of skills and knowledge to Healthcare service providers.

According to Mr Sabka, the ISS if fully practicalized will help strengthen the Healthcare system, enhance quality service delivery, improve performance and encourage open, two way communication.

Mr Sabka noted that the project is implemented by Better Life Restoration Initiative (BERI) in collaboration with COFAA and funded by USAID is working to enhance quality Healthcare delivery in the State.

Other Coalitions includes, Life Transformation for Africa Initiative (LIF4AFRICA), Women with Disability Integrity and Development Initiative (WDIDI), Bauchi State Network of Civil Societies (BASNEC), She-Alert Care Foundation (SHE-ALERT),  and BERI.

He further noted that the project is implemented in collaboration with palladium and Nigeria Resource Partners (RPs) in advocating for the establishment of an Integrated Supportive Supervision Technical Working Group (ISS-TWG) and a private sector engagement unit in the PHC Department of LGAs.
