The All Progressives Congress (APC) in kebbi State has said that allegations by the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) on the Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Tafida calling for votes for the APC in the coming local government elections in the state is a plot to tarnish his image.

The APC in a statement by its state public relations officer, Isah Abubakar Assalafi said the deputy governor's campaign for the party ahead of the local government election in the state is in order.

It added that it was on record that the Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission has slated the local government election for the 31st August, 2024 and had urge all Political Parties to kick start preparations for it.

"The Deputy Governor has the right to campaign for votes and to be optimistic of victory in the elections", it said.

It added that campaign for votes is allowed under the electoral laws regardless of the personality that is involved and optimism for victory is a global practice among politicians.

"PDP in its hallucination of imminent defeat, alleged that KESIEC is compromised. It's allegations of possibility of massive rigging is an act of cowardice", the APC said.

Reacting, the PDP state public relations officer, Garba Liman insisted that the call by the Deputy Governor is prememtive and a plot by the APC to rig the local government election.
