NIS Regional Academy To Take Off In Kebbi

The Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service Kemi Nanna Nandap has said that preparations are ongoing for the final take off of the Service's Regional Training Academy situated at Tuga area of   kebbi State.

While briefing journalists on Thursday during her visits to some of the NIS facilities and duty posts at Kamba, Dole Kaina and Lolo borders in the state, she said she was in the state to seek the support of the state government,Emir of Gwandu and other critical stakeholders for the NIS training academy to have a session next year.

She added that the training academy was opened two years ago but yet to have a session. "We are trying to see that we have a session next year. It's for the regions within this corridor, Benin and Niger Republic", she said.

Nandap said immigration is a global phenomenon and national security is a collaborative effort and that's why she came to see the Governor,Emir and other stakeholders because Kebbi borders two countries of Niger and Benin Republic. "We need to collaborate with Kebbi and it's border communities".

The Comptroller General stated that the NIS is trying to achieve integrated border solution through the deployment of  technology to secure the nation's borders. She said "The e-border is in place now,we want to see that all the borders are properly secured".

While at the Emir's palace, Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammadu Illiyasu Bashar commended Nandap for her efforts in securing the nation's borders. 

"We are proud of you for coming this far to attain this hieght. Our borders are porus but you are chosen to secure them. I know what security means  I urge u to do it well, you are doing it as a service to your country, the emir said.
