Ramadan: Abdulsamad, Ummuameena distributes food items to 500 in kebbi

The Abdulsamad Rabiu Initiative in collaboration with the Ummuameena Foundation has distributed varieties of food items to 500 people in the 21 local government areas of Kebbi State to ease food hardship during the month of Ramadan.

Some of the food items distributed by ARS under the Africa Fund for social development renewal and Ummuameena Foundation include a 25kg bag of rice, red and vegetable oil, millet, corn flour, sugar, spaghetti, and other soup ingredients.

The managing director of Abdulsamad Rabiu Initiative- ARS Africa, Baba Umar Sango said the gesture was to give people access to the needed food items during the month of Ramadan.

Sango who was represented by Hajiya Aisha Abdullahi said the country is presently faced with two pressing issues, the high cost of food items and insecurity. He said the ARS intervened to lessen the hardship people are currently facing particularly during the Ramadan period.

"We had gone to Zamfara, Sokoto now we are in Kebbi to give people the necessary food items to lessen their hardship during the month of Ramadan", he said.

Kebbi State coordinator of ARS, Dr Badiya Jemila Danjuma beg the beneficiaries of the food items not to sell it but take it home to feed their children. 

"We realize some of you take this food item to the market to sell. It's wrong to do so. We want you to take it home to your family and feed them with it", she said.

Earlier the commissioner for religious affairs, Architect Muhammed Sani Aliyu commended Abdulsamad and the Ummuameena Foundation for the gesture saying the state government is also planning to distribute food items to people of the state for Ramadan.
