Kebbi State government has distributed 32,000 solar and compressed natural gas (CNG) water pumps to farmers to boost agricultural production in the state.
While flagging off the distruibuton of the water Pumps to farmers at Suru area of state on Thursday, Governor Nasir Idris said his administration has procured 12,000 solar water pumps and 20,000 compressed natural gas water pumps help farmers to boost agricultural productionin in the state.
He said the removelal of subsidy has brought untold hardship to farmers in food production particularly dry season rice farming as they could not afford the new petrol price.
Governor Idris called on people of the state to go back to farming because the federal government under president Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration have decided to assist famers to boost agricultural productionin in the state.
He warned the beneficiariy farmers not to sell the solar and CNG water pumps but ensure they are used to boost their rice production.
"We have directed the police, Civil Defence and Vigilante to be on the watchout and arrest anyone who sells the machines. My government will not take it kindly with anyone caught selling it", he said.
Earlier, the Minister of Agriculture and food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari said the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is farmers and agriculture friendly.
He said the administration's agriculture objective has been demonstrated in it's Job Creation, Access to Capital, Eradication of Poverty and other interventions are parts of the agenda by the federal government to assist famers to boost food production in the country.
