Kebbi State Government on Friday commenced distribution of 126,000 bags of assorted grains estimated at N5.7bn as pallatives to members of the public in the 21 local government areas of the state.
Speaking at the flag off the pallatives distribution to the general public at Maiyama local government area of the state, Governor Nasiru Idris said each of the 21 local governments would get 10 trucks from the 210 trucks load of grains and more than 720,000 families, government workers and community members would benefit from the pallatives.
The Governor listed agencies, educational institutions, Army, Police, Immigration, Customs, Civil defence, Road safety corps and others as beneficiaries of the pallatives.
"This pallatives would have direct impact on the well being of families and there would be happiness,self esteem and productivity in homes and among members of the public", he said.
He said his government was not unaware of the hardship the removal of subsidy and global economic crisis occassioned by the war between Ukraine and Russia has caused the people.
"We have promise to take agriculture to the highest level for the benefit of our people. We enrolled in the federal government 2023 and 2024 dry season farming program.
"As we move to cushion the effects of the subsidy removal, just recently government distributed 6,750 tons of fertilizer totaling 136,000 bags at N3.3bn free of charge to farmers in the state, he said.
