The Electorate Platform, a non-political movement of voters in Kogi state has condemned in totality the idea of Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello led Government in Kogi state to distribute Federal Government palliatives to Nigerian residents in Kogi state through State APC structure.
The Press Statement signed by Comrade Azees Ahmed, the group Media Aide, said it's completely insensitive to put what is meant for all Nigerians, may be in fairness, it's extension to all residents in Kogi state, to the care of a political party, asking if this was what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu asked them to do?.
In a circular going round that all ward Councilors, ward Chairmen, Secretaries, Youth Leaders, Women Leaders, LG Party Chairmen, and LG Chairmen should converge in Lokoja for the sharing, the group described it as most unfortunate and a misrepresentation of facts from the FG spirit to reach all Nigerians irrespective of their political parties or affiliations.
It noted that "under this kind of parochial approach, how will the civil servants, students, and other political party members and even those without political party will be reached or taken care of?"
The fact that the said Circular was not signed by anyone, makes it more suspicious and gives room to doubts as to its authenticity, which made the Electorate Platform reach the Chief Press Secretary to speak to the matter, but to no avail. Meanwhile, it was captioned Kogi State Government of Nigeria, to be coordinated by APC State Chairman and Hon. Commissioner for LG and Chieftaincy Affairs, which therefore, means it should not be taken for granted, more so, that the Government is yet to disclaim the notice.
The Press Statement therefore, calls on the state Government to withdraw that approach and ensure a wide and far-reaching approach as it observed that politics should not be taken this far, in the face of hunger and anger in the land, or simply deny the unsigned circular, asking people to converge on Thursdays at Mohammed Buhari Primary School in Lokoja.
The release, said "This is but a sabotage to Federal Government intention, which is still being criticized by Nigerians as below standard intervention, and as such, we call on labour and all political parties to be united in rejecting this move and ensure that, the attention of the Federal government is drawn to this and very quickly"
The release also called on the Federal Government, to stop Kogi State Government from going ahead with this one-sided needless plan if it fails to yield.
