Kebbi State Immigration Command has rescued 18 year old girl, Wosilat Yusuf, from Ibadan, Oyo State. She was intercepted by men of the Nigeria Immigration Service at Yauri border base in the state on her way to Libya through illella border in Sokoto State.

Addressing journalists in Birnin Kebbi, State Comptroller of Immigration, Rabi Bashir Nuhu said the teenager was a victim of human traffickers. She added that she was brought to the state headquarters of NIS in Birnin Kebbi after she was intercepted by the officers at the Yauri border post upon discovering she was been misled on her mission to Libya.

She said "The girl has been very cooperative with us. She told us one Abiodun Yusuf based in Libya was responsible for her traveling expenses and she was the one who invited her to Libya.

"We discovered she had undergone HIV and Herpertitis tests on the instructions of the person she was to meet in Libya. This is a clear case of prostitution even though she told us she was going there for a cleaner job".

While answering questions from journalists the 18 year old girl said was going to Libya on the invitation of her sister who promised her a cleaner job on arrival in the North African country.

"She said I was directed to do HIV and Herpertitis tests before coming. I was to go to Libya through illella border in Sokoto", she said.

While receiving the girl from the  NIS, NAPTIP Head of Operation, Sadiq Atiku Abubakar said the girl would undergo rehabilitation before rejoining her family. "We will continue with the investigation to get the traffickers for prosecution", he said.
