Kebbi Immigration Service rescues 2 teenage girls on way to Libya

The Nigeria Immigration Service, Kebbi area command has rescued two teenage girls of same parents from traffickers who planned to move them to Libya from Sokoto.

The two minors, Faisal Rahman, 15 years and Aliya Rahman, 16 years were being transported from Shagamu area of Ogun State to Sokoto enroute Libya when officers at the NIS patrol post in Yauri area of Kebbi State intercepted them.

The State Comptroller of NIS, Rabi Bashir Nuhu while briefing newsmen said upon interrogation the girls revealed to the officers at the patrol post that their parents who resides in Shagamu are aware of their planned journey to Libya. Their sister whom they claimed resides in Libya had arranged for their pick up from Sokoto.

The immigration boss said "Our officers at the duty post were doing stop and check when they discovered this two little girls on the 29 of November this year. 

"From what we gathered from them, their sister who they claimed resides in Libya arranged for their pick up in Sokoto with the consent of their parents in Shagamu".

She said the girls would be handed over to officials of NAPTIP for further investigation. 

While answering questions from journalists the girls said they were in the JSS class in their school back home. "We were told our sister who is in Libya would pick us up when we reached Sokoto. She said she will put us in catering school in Libya", they said.

While receiving the girls, NAPTIP Commandant in kebbi State, Musibau Kaura said they would begin their investigation from where the immigration stopped to uncover the source of their recruitment, transit and destination.
