For defecting from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), four members of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Abdulmumuni Kamba, former speaker, Muhammad Buhari Aliero, Samaila Bui and Habibu Labbo Gwandu have alleged that the state government has concluded plans to clampdown on the oppositions in the house with the objective of suspending them.

They also claimed that the plan was to silence the oppositions particularly the PDP members in the house through intimidation and financial inducement of some unscrupulous minds in the house to achieve this purpose.

The four house of assembly members in a press statement titled: 'Enough of Intimidation and Clampdown on Oppositions by Kebbi State Government' said the former speaker, Abdulmumini had been denied all his privileges and it's on record that the three other members are also facing serious challenges and intimidation from the state government since their defection to the PDP.

The said "It would be recalled that the state government openly sponsored the removal of the then speaker, Abdulmumuni kamba and his deputy unjustifiably. Now they are planning to suspend us because we defected to the PDP and some of us are contesting for re-election. We therefore called on the state government to shelve the idea to distabilize the house in the interest of democratic principles".

They therefore called on the Civil Liberty Organisations, general public and anti graft agencies to intervene and defend democracy in kebbi State.
