A group, known as Democracy Defenders Forum has threatened to drag the leadership of Nigeria Labour Congress in kebbi State before the industrial court should it be involved in a purported solidarity rally being planned to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Candidate, Nasiru Idris for the coming governorship elections.
The group said the planned rally slated for the 25 of October in respect of the governorship elections in the state was inappropriate as it may destroy the dignity of the NLC and it's other affiliates.
It called on the NLC leadership to clarify it's position on the purported rally by making a clear statement to the public on its involvement or otherwise "because we are not in support of NLC leadership to drag the union as an entity into partisan politics", it said.
The group in a press release signed by its state chairman, Comrade Almustapha Habib Yauri and made available to journalists in Birnin Kebbi said it has observed with dismay document in circulation said to have emanated from the state NLC inviting various political groups to a rally in support of the APC candidate.
It added that it was not averse to the Nigeria law which allows freedom of association of individuals including that of the workers on their political stand. "But not in a situation where the union is being dragged by its leadership to partisan politics", the group said.
