Help yourselves to help your country, Ambassador charges Nigerians
Nigeria Ambassador to Italy, His Excellency, Mfawa Omini Abam has charged Nigerians resident in Italy to position themselves well in the country, develop their careers, make good money, and invest in their motherland in Nigeria.
The Ambassador made this call at the Yoruba Day celebration in Bologna, Italy organized by the Yoruba National Community in Italy on Saturday, 24 September 2022.
AmbassadorAbam went further, "The speaker on the topic today, Mr. Olufemi Iyanda has covered the ground on my advice for you today. To do well in Italy, you have to learn their language, integrate very well, and make yourself employable in sectors where you can earn good money. It is when you have enough, and build up good savings that you can invest in Nigeria, so I urge you to reflect on this.
"Beyond this, you also need to get involved in voluntary and community services that can target areas of need in Nigeria to help the indigent ones."
Also while speaking, the president of the Association, Prince Kola Oladele reiterated the reason why the association was formed some eleven years ago which includes raising help for Yorubas who newly arrived in Italy and the promotion of culture and language of the race among Yoruba children born in Italy.
At the event, to the satisfaction of people in attendance, there was Egungun and Eyo display and cultural dance by the children.
