Kebbi State Police Command has dismissed as untrue reports making the rounds in social media that Kamba area of the state was one of the routes to be used by bandits to cross into Kwara state.
A statement signed by the command's public relations officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar for the Ag commissioner of police, DCP Maiyaki M. Baba Kebbi said the purported intelligence report is fake, misleading, mischievous and calculated attempt by some unpatriotic individuals to instill fear and in people and divert the attention of the State Police command on its avowed commitment at guaranteeing the safety and security of people of Kebbi state.
It stated that the commissioner of police had called on the people to disregard the fake intelligence report and go about their lawful businesses, as the command under his watch will leave no stone unturned in ensuring the protection of lives and property in the state.
"The Ag. CP has assured the good people of Kebbi State that, the State Police Command in collaboration with other security agencies in the state have put in placed adequate security measures, not only in Kamba area but throughout the state to forestall any unforeseen circumstances", the statement said.
The command enjoined members of the public to be security conscious and report any suspicious persons to the nearest Police station.
