Kebbi Police deploys more personnel to curb bandits infiltration

Kebbi State Police command on Friday said it has deployed additional personnel across the interstate borders to prevent bandits from neighbouring states making incursion into Kebbi.

Kebbi State Police Command, Ahmed Magaji Kontagora said the efforts of the CP to curb banditry infiltration to the state was complemented by the Acting  Commanding Officer, 1 Battalion, Nigerian Army, Dukku Barracks, Birnin Kebbi,  Captain A. Ogah, who was on ground during the patrol.

It added that equel to the invasion of Zagi Village in Augie LGA of Kebbi State, a border community with Silame LGA of Sokoto State by suspected bandits on the 18th August 2022, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Magaji Kontagora and his Management Team on Friday, 19th August, 2022, patrolled Zagi-Augie road for an on the spot assessment of the security situation in the area and  personally supervised the deployment of tactical teams drafted to restore normalcy there.

During the patrol, the CP and his entourage also visited the internally displaced persons, who were temporarily sheltered at Augie Local Government Secretariat and assured the victims and residents of additional deployments of Police specialized teams in the area to prevent bandits from the neighboring state into the areas.

 It said he further solicited the support of the community members to cooperate with the security personnel deployed to the area to ensure the territorial borders of the state are adequately secured.
