Kebbi State Government in collaboration with USAID - Integrated Health Program has embarked on a 3 day multi- sectoral resource optimization plan for the Health Financing Technical Working Group (HFTWG) on how best to utilize little resources to achieve better health care outcome in kebbi State.
Speaking during the resource optimization plan program (ROP) at Kamba Motel in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday, Dr Aisha Aminu Senchi, Health Financing Advisor for USAID Integrated Health Program said the meeting was aimed at building agreement and consensus on feasible strategies for resource optimization in the health care sector of Kebbi State.
She also said the 3 day multi-sectoral ROP for the HFTWG would help to discuss, synthesize, explore available options for resource optimization and develop Kebbi State 2022 ORP and as well build the capacity of the stakeholders to implement, review and develop future resource optimization plans in the state.
Dr Aisha who is providing technical support to the HFTWG said by the end of the 3 day meeting, the group should have understood and causes of efficiencies, identified important and feasible strategies for resource optimization and know how best to effectively implement ROP and quarterly review it's status and develop future ROP for kebbi State health care in line with global best practices.
She added that the training for HFTWG group in kebbi was the first of it's kinds after realizing that resources are scarce globally and from the lessons from the COVID 19 pandemic, realizing also that money is not forth coming and states revenue generation are very low.
"We now try to see how we can best optimize the little resources available to have better health care outcome in kebbi State", Dr Aisha said.
The USAID- IHP Health Financing Advisor said with the type of stakeholders that were invited for the meeting she is sure that at the end of the 3 day program they would come up with a robust plans that will highlight and identity the inefficiencies in the health sector of the state and know how to address them and as well employ strategies to achieve optimal resources for better health care for the state.
She recommended that government should further look inwards and see how it can explore other opportunities for increase in revenue generation for the state while enjoining stakeholders to identify the loopholes and leakages, and with the little resources in the state to see how they can utilize the money to achieve better health care outcome for Kebbi State in the long run.
