The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kebbi State Council on Thursday lauded the emergence of Yakubu Maikyau (SAN) as NBA president at the just concluded election of the Nigerian Bar Association.
In a Press statement signed by the Council secretary, Comrade Ahmed Idris in Birnin Kebbi congratulated the legal luminary for emerging the 31st President of the Association.
The release said "The Kebbi State Council of NUJ felicitate with Barrister Yakubu Maikyau for emerging as the President of NBA, we wishes him all the best in his tenure".
It noted that Bar. Maikyau had over the years played a major role in democratic and economic development of Kebbi State and Nigeria at large, with advocacy, counselling and partnership with governments.
The NUJ also commended his contribution in promoting the NBA to a higher level, as well as building partnerships and integration with the state NUJ during its Primary assignments.
It said the council looked forward to a healthy working relationship with the new leadership of the NBA, believing the noble and patriotic antecedents of the legal body would be upheld, and further projected in Kebbi State and the nation.
