Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State and Chairman management committee of the just concluded APC presidential primary on Sunday said President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress,( APC) provided equal opportunity to all the aspirants in the just concluded special convention of the party that produced Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its flag bearer.
He said though there were several stories on social media about the convention the party was able to resolve its differences cumulating into the primary and transit.
'The president agreed the presidential ticket should be zoned to the south. Equity played out because there was no zone without aspirants.
"This is a democracy, this is unifying for our country. The APC provided fair opportunities to all. This shows that Nigerians are not divided and our president insists it must be transparent. We will support our flag bearer for APC to win the presidential election", Bagudu said.
Bagudu said the delegates, President Buhari, and Nigerians played more important roles than his committee to see the party emerge successful in its presidential primary.
"The president gave confidence to all the presidential aspirants, the body of governors, delegates, and party members all contributed to the success of the party's presidential primary", he said.
On the defecting of Senator Adamu Aliero and comments made on him, Governor Bagudu said those making uncharitable comments about him will one day see why they should eschew bitterness and agree there is the need to move kebbi state forward.
He said" I don't want anybody to leave APC, I regret it but the party in kebbi is not worried about them leaving.
Bagudu said his administration has done well in delivering the dividend of democracy to the people of the state. "We have done better than others but that's not how we want to be judged.", he said.
He said that given the Ukraine/Russia war and the dwindling world economy, the state has devised ways to keep its sectors, education, agriculture, health, and others functioning effectively.
He said his government has in the face of the dwindling economy paid state workers who retired in 2020 and is planning to pay those who retired in 2021 their gratuity.
"I want to be remembered for being fair-minded and helping kebbi people realize their potential and providing a model for good governance.
"I also want to be remembered for Providing an opportunity for industrialization, made effort on the ethanol and a lot of more of the development that will still come and kebbi will be a better place for everyone"., Bagudu said.
