Gov Bagudu wins APC senatorial primaries as Aliero withdraws

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has won Kebbi Central Senatorial primaries few hours after Senator Muhammadu Adamu Aliero withdrew from the contest.

Bagudu polled 445 votes from delegates from eight local government areas of the senatorial district comprising of Kalgo, Bunza,Maiyama, Birnin Kebbi, Aliero, Jega, Gwandu and Koko-Besse.

While declaring him the winner of the senatorial primaries, the Returning Officer, Kelechi Njoku said the governor polled 445 votes from eight local government areas that constitute Kebbi Central Senatorial District.

She said the primary election was peaceful and in line with the prescribed guidelines. She also commended the delegates for the ways they conducted themselves during the election.

In his acceptance speech, Governor Bagudu praised the delegates and the party for the smooth conduct of the primary. He said it was peaceful and transparent.

The governor recalled that he won the senatorial ticket in 2011 but conceded it to Senator Adamu Aliero for the sake of peace. I'm still ready to do same for the sake of peace ", he said.

He said he was grateful to the people of the senatorial district for nominating him. 'As you go home play your role to mobilize people to the APC"', he said

He also thanked the delegates and supporters of the party for their roles in his emergence as the Kebbi south senatorial flag bearer of the APC.
