The Nigerian Police Command in Rivers State has arrested a pregnant woman alongside a man who specializes in dispossessing unsuspecting drivers of their tricycles.
The suspects were identified as Steve Green and Adaugo Darlington who usually pretend to be pregnant so as to attract sympathy from people.
The acting Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrest on Monday, April 4, 2022.
Grace stated that the suspects often posed as passengers, attack the drivers with knives, and machetes and push them from the vehicle while still in motion thereby escaping with the tricycle.
However, the duo met their waterloo on Thursday, March 31 along Rumunduru Eneka in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, when the police of Eneka Division while on patrol encountered their latest victim, one Lasisi Akeem.
The victim who had machete cuts described his tricycle and the suspects to the police.
The police subsequently swung into action and were able to apprehend the suspects and recover the vehicle.
