How Anchor Borrowers Rice Programme increased Kebbi IGR, attract investors -Alhaji Kabiru Giant

The Anchor Borrowers Rice Programme flagged off in Kebbi State by the Federal Government has brought significant changes to the state economy and its internally generated revenue (IGR) has increased from 30% to 80% and has attracted an influx of investors in different sectors of the state economy.

The former Board Members of Kebbi Housing Cooperation and former Chairman Buhari/Bagudu 4+4 campaign in kebbi State, Alhaji Kabiru Giant disclosed this while addressing a press conference on Sunday in Birnin Kebbi.

He said the program has also attracted investors within and outside the country to the state promote its economy.

He stated that no fewer than 10 Rice Mills have been established in Kebbi while other industries manufacturing other products such as fertilizer, plastics, cassava flour, tomato paste have also taken off in different parts of the state.

He commended the efforts of the State Government under the leadership of Governor Atiku Bagudu Abubakar for providing what he called the enabling environment for the industries to thrive and as well delivered dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

"The anchor borrowers rice program has greatly improved the economy of kebbi state and led to a reduction in its poverty index", he said.

He added that "Those who said the performance of the administration is low should investigate the achievement of Governor Bagudu in the state education sector, on roads construction, electricity and water, and infrastructural development.

"During the past administration kebbi only enjoyed 4 hours of electricity supply but today we enjoy 25 hours electricity supply".

He said that linkage and township roads currently being constructed across the four Emirates and renovation of secondary and Primary schools would transform the economic and educational sectors of the state.
