Gov Bagudu, Minister of Justice, Malami Call For Peace, Understanding As Kebbi Conducts LG Polls

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu and Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami have enjoined kebbi electorates to eschew violence and ensure peaceful and free conduct of the council election which was held this Saturday in the 21 local government areas of the state. Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu at his Mai Alelu, Nassarawa 2, 001 units called on kebbi electorates to see the election as a way to move the state forward and voted candidates of their choice without resulting in rancour. He also called on all political parties and candidates in the election to exhibit the spirit of sportsmanship as winners and losers must emerge in the election.

While addressing newsmen at his filin Maria polling unit where he voted in Birnin Kebbi, the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami appealed to contestants in the election to accept its outcome as the will of Allah. He called on people in the 21 local government areas of the state to vote APC in the election.

Speaking to journalists at the governor's polling unit, his brother Alhaji Ibrahim Bagudu one of the APC stakeholders in the state expressed satisfaction over the way and manners the election was conducted and how the electorates conducted themselves.

He admonished all the contestants in the council polls to eschew any political rancour and allow the spirit of sportsmanship to guide them in the election. He urged APC supporters to vote for the party's candidates in the election.

At Ladan Nna Musa polling units, the presiding officer  Bala Mohammed said that the election started around 8;03am and the materials arrived the polling unit at the stipulated time.

The Personal Assistant to Governor Alhaji Musa Farouk Enabo thanks the people of Kebbi State for coming out in large numbers to exercise the franchise. He also commended them for the orderly manner in the election.

He said "The peaceful nature of the election shows that people are ready to support the APC and voted for candidates of their choice," Enabo said.

Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Usman Bello Suru also called on all candidates and political parties to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner in the election while urging voters to vote for his party in the election.

Electorates in the 250 wards of Kebbi State on Saturday turned out in large number to vote in new executives into the 21 councils of the state.

As as at the time of filling this report, the situation report from the 21 local government areas of the state said the election was peaceful.
