Bagudu's Aide Empowers 800 Women Entrepreneurs in Kebbi

By Bayo Ismail

The Special Adviser to Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu on Energy,  Alhaji Yusuf Haruna Rashid has empowered 800 women entrepreneurs in Kebbi State.

The governor's aide who is also the founder of Sardaunan Gwandu Foundation said the initiative was to assist women to engage in trade and commerce especially the less privileged.

He warned the beneficiaries to use the money they were given judiciously to uplift their living standards.

He acknowledged that the state governor and his wife have been assisting people in a similar way and had made a positive impact in their lives.

Abubakar Atiku Bagudu who was represented at the occasion by the chief of staff government house, Alhaji Suleiman Muhammed Argungu charged politicians and the well-to-do in the society to come up with initiatives and programs that will uplift the living standard of Nigerians.

He urged wealthy individuals and politicians to emulate his aide's gesture to support the less privileged in society.

He said such a valuable and laudable gesture could in no small measure complement the effort of the state government in providing succor to people especially women in the state.

"Government cannot do it alone to provide all the needs of people largely due to paucity of funds.

However, Government has set the initiative for people of the state to be self-reliant by giving emphasis to farming and entrepreneurship.

" We can now boast of WACOT Rice Mills, Lolo Rice Mills, and there is the GB Foods, Tomatoes Paste Company among others, all these are private driven courtesy of state government encouragement to private investors who now see Kebbi State as a business-friendly hub ", he said.

He said his administration was committed to supporting small-scale businesses, women, and the less privileged in society.

Earlier, the wife of Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu, and the wife of Hon. Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami,  Hajiya Aisha Malami lauded the initiative of the governor's aide.
