'More Collaboration Between Private Sector, State Government To Make Public School Better'

There is need for more collaboration between the private sector and the Lagos State Government in building more Infrastructure in public schools for qualitative basic education.

This was the consensus of Stakeholders at a Civil Society Organisations, CSO and Media roundtable on improving standard of basic education in Lagos organized by a Non Governmental organization, Human Development Initiative, HDI, in Yaba.

In an address of welcome, the Executive Director, HDI Mrs Funso Owasanoye, attributed the major challenges in the education sector to inadequate funding and called for upward review of budget allocation for the sector to ensure that no child is left behind.

The Project Coordinator, Mr Ibidapo Johnson, said the Stakeholders forum was to brainstorm on challenges confronting basic education with a view to proffering solutions with recommendations to relevant authorities.

Mr Johnson challenged the Media to use their different platforms to sensitize and educate community members, parents and those at the grassroots on the need to report issues affecting their children schools to get the needed attention in the overall benefits of school age children.
