The Reformed Oodua People’s Congress, led by Dare Adesope, has called on security operatives to let go the idea of arresting Chief Sunday Adeyemo a.k.a Igboho to avert crisis.
At
a press briefing held in Lagos on Tuesday, the Reformed OPC President, Adesope said,
“The invasion of Sunday Adeyemo, a.k.a Sunday Igboho's house that led to the
loss of lives and destruction of properties is not acceptable to us. The
Department of States Security should have invited him officially instead of the
invasions that almost jeopardize the peaceful co-existence we enjoy in the Southwest.”
Adesope stressed further that, “In spite all odds, we still held the rally on Saturday, 3rd July, 2021 as planned to register our grievances in a peaceful manner but was disrupted by government security agencies, where an innocent young girl was killed.
“Yoruba
leaders should stand up and speak against this oppression and intimidation. Fulani
herdsmen are still going about their businesses in all Oodua land without fear
while the original land owners are afraid of sleeping with their eyes closed
with fear of being attacked.”
On
Sunday Igboho, the Reformed OPC leader said,“Sunday Igboho, should be left alone because
arresting him or anybody in any part of Oodua land will change the ball
game. The government should do the needful urgently on many prevailing
issues.
“If
the Nation is being governed well, there would be no call for restructuring,
let alone secession. How many people have the security operatives arrest as
regards Igangan killings and wanton destruction of properties?
“I am sounding a Clarion call to every Yoruba sons and daughters that this is beyond political party; this is all about our society and our tribe! Let us all unite to achieve this so that our future generations will pray for us even after we are gone.” He said.
