Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has visited the Katsina Central Market recently gutted by fire and sympathized with the government and the affected traders.
Bola Tinubu who was visibly touched by the
level of destruction pledged a sum of Fifty Million Naira to the victims aimed
at assisting to cushion their losses.
He also pledged to work with the Katsina
state government and relevant agencies to draw sympathy and succor to the
victims of the inferno.
He added that though the inferno has
occurred with its devastating effects, live must go on as both the Federal and
state governments are working tirelessly to ensure the losses are not felt and
directed for the immediate reopening of the market for buying and selling activities
to go on as efforts are on the way to assist victims.
Tinubu further urged Nigerians to keep
uniting against all odds to see to the development of the Area.
Briefing Tinubu over the development,
Governor Aminu Masari stressed that over 1,000 shops were destroyed by the
inferno with billions of naira worth of properties burnt.
He
added that the state government has already set machineries in motion with the
constitution of administrative committee to look into the immediate cause of the
inferno with a view to compensating the victims and averting further
recurrence.
