‘AJOBIEWE IS A BETTER CANDIDATE AS MAYEGUN OF YORUBA LAND’

While encomiums continued to trail the foremost Yoruba Poet, Chief Sulaimon Omotanbaje Ayilara a.k.a Ajobiewe having celebrated his 65th birthday some days ago, Nigerian, America based cultural promoter, Oladipupo Ologundudu has called on traditional rulers to honour this great Yoruba poet with a unique title in the land.

The impeccable Image Boss, Otunba Bobaselu Oladipupo said, Ajobiewe fits more as the Mayegun of Yoruba land than any other person in the south western states of Nigeria. He said, "There are many out there that are cultural promoters, and Ajobiewe being one of them, he has really done well and stands a better chance than any other person; having been blessed with great humility, a concept of Omoluabi that every good Yoruba man must possess. This man has paid his dues and he ought to be honoured."

Ologundudu stress further that, his contributions towards projecting rich Yoruba culture via his chants is obvious to all and sundry.

On one of his social media page, he said; ImpeccableImage USA; I would like to speak my honest mind this morning I will say... It's a big shame on Yoruba Royal Fathers, that none will celebrate Baba Ajobiewe with a huge Royal title of a huge Yoruba Chief.

Baba Ajobiewe has contributed a lot and stands as a good example to Yoruba race. I so much believe that following people; Baba Ajobiewe, Baba Peter Fatomilola, Baba Yemi Elebuibon are great people that have really worked in promoting Yoruba Culture and are meant to be celebrated by Yoruba Royal Fathers.

It’s high time we stop cherishing only those that promote western culture, we need to cherish what really belong to us first and by doing that, it’s a way we can continue to promote our culture and encourage the youths to do more in area of cultural development.

Baba Ajobiewe could have been a better candidate for Mayegun of Yoruba land, a title I believe he is over qualified for based on his vast knowledge of almost all the pedigree (Oriki) in Yoruba land. He is a blessing to this generation and such talent supposed to be recognised.

Ohun a ní là naani ni Yoruba n wi. We shouldn't have to wait till legends die before honouring them or celebrating them.
