“Thank you for all the messages but
our father is still alive, alhamdulillah. When it is our time we will all die
so wait first,” Fatima tweeted on Thursday night.
There
was confusion on Thursday evening across Oyo State and Nigeria over claims that
former Oyo Governor Senator Abiola Ajimobi was dead.
Some online media had claimed that the ailing politician died in
Lagos at about 8pm.
Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other
stakeholders in the state were on telephone calls to confirm the news as they
were gripped with anxiety.
His Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Bolaji Tunji,
however, said his principal was alive and
responding to treatment.
Also in a post on his social media handles, Tunji urged
Nigerians to pray for the recovery of the APC chieftain.
Ajimobi was appointed Acting National chairman of the party on
Tuesday following the suspension of the substantive National Chairman, Adams
Oshiomhole.
But the party later appointed Hilliard Eta, National Vice
chairman South-South to act on his behalf till he returns to office.
