It was an epoch-making event today 13th of December, 2018 for
APC VOLUNTEERS SUPPORT GROUP for Buhari /Osibajo 2019 at Mapo Hall, Ibadan,
venue of NATMALC anniversary award and coronation of the association.
Indeed, the ceremony was a reminder of the good old days of
party politics in the South West during the time of the late legend, Chief
Obafemi Awolowo. It was colourful and electrifying amidst pomp and pageantry.
At the peak of the ceremony, echoes of good tidings of Buhari/Osibajo 2019 from
the President of the group induced the Olubadan himself, Oba Adetunji whose
palace is a walking distance to grace the occasion.
After paying obeisance to the respected monarch and exchange
of pleasantries, Chief Mrs. Yetunde Babajide sauntered to the podium with
Iyaloja Alimi to address the mammoth crowd of market women, artisans and
dignitaries.
Babajide, like a trained orator held everybody spellbound
with her measured, well delivered speech of positive changes and developments
that have occurred in the country since the first term tenure of President
Mohammadu Buhari and the vice President, Prof. Yemi Osibajo. She appealed to
the people on the need to sustain the awareness and ensure consolidation
through massive votes for APC in the next year 2019 elections.
Iyalode Ojodu’s speech bothered on various empowerments of Buhari’s
administration like the N-POWER, training on various vocation and trade works,
farming and enabling environment through soft bank loans that can be easily
accessed. She stated that the Buhari's administration's policy and departure
from the rot of the past administration has made her a self reliant person.
According to Chief Mrs Babajide, today, she sits atop six
different successful companies courtesy of the enabling environment and policy
formulation of the Buhari /Osibajo government.
A mild drama however ensued towards the end of the day's
programme where upon announcement of five hundred pieces of branded loaves of
bread for Buhari/Osibajo and in support of Iyaloja from Chief Mrs. Babajide,
hitherto seemingly organized individuals rushed to the high table jostling for
Buhari/Osibajo bread.
Another interesting aspect of the event was from a speaker,
Chief Dipo Oladosu, a leader of another group supporting Buhari/Osibajo who
stated that he parted way with Atiku Abubakar after thirty years of unfavorable
association.
Iyaloja, Olubadan, Oba Adetunji and all market women
expressed gratitude and appreciation to APC VOLUNTEERS SUPPORT GROUP for
Buhari/Osibajo and resolved to sustain their support for the group and the second
term bid of the President.
In another development, Chief Mrs. Monsurat Yetunde Babajide
has been given the position of Matron of Market Association of Oyo state today.
