OGEDENGBE LEGACY FOUNDATION SETS TO EMPOWER NIGERIAN YOUTHS- AROLE TAYO OGEDENGBE

Arole Tayo Ogedengbe is the President and founder of Ogedengbe Legacy Foundation, a United Kingdom base business man with penchant for propagating Yoruba cultural belief and helping the needy has stated reasons for reviving the great name of one of Yoruba legends, Ogedengbe Agbogungboro of Ijesa land.
In this interview, Arole Tayo did give details on the motive behind the foundation and his belief in reviving the great name of his progenitor. Excerpt;
My name is Arole Tayo Ogedengbe, the main aims and objective of Ogedengbe Legacy Foundation is to revive the great name of our progenitor; Ogedengbe Gbogungboro of Ijesa land and promoting our cultural belief coupled with empowerment, making life better for the needy in our society.
Government cannot do everything and in our little way, we are ready to assist and put smile on the faces of our people. With this, the society would be a better place to live for all and sundry.
What is your link with the great warrior, Ogedengbe of Ijesa land?
I am the great grandson of the great warrior, Ogedengbe Agbogungboro of Ijesa land. The motive behind this foundation is taking after the great warrior. During his life time, Ogedengbe used to liberate people from the oppressor. Nowadays; there isn’t any war rather we are set to make life better for people. It is simply meant to put smiles on people’s face and preserve and protect the great name Ogedengbe has bequeathed to us.
To other family members, what is their response to the project?
Every members of our family are in support of the project with the consent of the head of the family Obanla of Ijesa land. The foundation is at its starting point and our projection is to empower over 50,000 Nigerian youths in twelve months.
Our goodwill is for everybody irrespective of tribe, religion or what have you.
What is peculiar about the Ogedengbes?
We are everywhere in the world, our source transcends beyond Ijesa land, we are in Benin in Edo state, Akoko Edo; even in Lagos, we discovered another family of Ogedengbes in a small community called Egbin after Ikorodu. Another cogent reason why we put up this foundation is to unite all the Ogedengbes wherever they are and project the good name of our progenitor in good light. There is a website for the foundation; www.ogedengbelegacyandfoundation.com
What is your projection in another five years as regards the foundation?
The family would be happy with the track records the foundation would have gotten. Our family across the globe would have met and we would have gotten a one united Ogedengbes.
Another project we intend to do is writing the real story of Ogedengbe Gbogungboro and having it shot as movie for everybody to see. Movies previously shot as Ogedengbe’s story were not the true replica of the Gbogungboro of Ijesa land. We would shoot a movie that would tell the story as it is. The story would be from the source, how he was born, his life and how he completed his mission.
What other avenue would you exploit?
Ogedengbe Legacy and foundation would be on entertainment, culture and empowerment. We really want to contribute immensely to the growth of our rich culture and preservation of our ancestral name. Music, art and culture would be exploited, also we shall dwell more on the concept of Omoluabi; that is, good moral conduct amongst youths for a better society.
