In preparation for the 2019 general election, all delegates from the seven
local government councils of Kwara South Senatorial district have endorsed
Abdul-Fatah Ahmed as the consensus candidate of the People Democratic Party
(PDP).
The Kwara State Governor was
affirmed as the consensus candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP) for
Kwara South Senatorial District in the 2019 General Elections at the zonal
primaries held in Omu Aran, Kwara state.
Abdul
Fatah Ahmed who will complete his eight years as governor of Kwara state next year joined Kwara
state politics when he was appointed as Commissioner for Finance and
Economic Development at the start of Bukola Saraki administration between 2003-
2009 and later became Commissioner of the newly created Ministry of Planning
and Economic Development.
Ahmed announced his defection from All Progressive Congress shortly
after his predecessor and Senate President, Bukola Saraki announced his resignation from the (APC) on July
31st 2018. His new haven has given him the opportunity to contest for the post
of a senator in the coming general election in 2019.
