As the
date Sept 2nd, 2018 draws near, preparation is in top gear as gospel artistes
have signified their interest to be part of a big celebration, Kunle Oludele a.k.a
Otunba Jesu wants to throw in Lagos.
The Ekiti
Iloro born gospel act has three albums to his name having taken to music
professionally over a decade ago with a track record of one of the most sought after
among his peers.
In this
interview; he has described his sojourn in music as an experience with
different facet, tough, rough and sweet all the way. Excerpt:
THE JOURNEY SO FAR
My name is Oludele
Ayomikun Kunle a.k.a Otunba Jesu (Spirit); I am the founder and the CEO of
Da-Spirit Crew. I am also the chairman of a media print house named August Pluz Media.
I have been in the music
industry for over 12 years waxing stronger daily from grace to grace.
Spirit as I am fondly called by fans started music as a Choir in my late
father's church, Christ International and I later became music Coordinator at
C.A.C Miracle Center. With God’s mercy; that position launched me fully into
music doing it professionally within and outside the shore of Nigeria. I have three 3 albums to my name,
Alaaye; Alasepe and the new one to be unveiled by September 2nd, 2018

CHALLENGES OVER THE YEARS
Different challenges have come our
way coupled with the present situation of the country where upcoming artistes
are not well appreciated. But God has been so faithful. In the midst of the
storm his mercy has always keep us on with a ray of hope with assurance that
greater height is meant for me.

Our performances over the years have
made us most sought after by those who have events like wedding, burial, birthday
and different church programs with good charges. Also, the talent has brought us many awards from far and near; Ifako/Ijaye gospel artiste of the year, City Pride artiste of the year, Most
fabulous promising artiste of the year.
There is no profession today either skill
or un-skill that has no tough times.
Meanwhile; the reality of life is when
there is no pain there could be no gain. The pains are many but just to mention
few are when clients wouldn’t want to pay us well despite the fact that our
delivery of service is far better than what celebrated artistes they pay
mouth-watering money to would give.
Clients are aware we do better but
when it comes to payment that is where they cheat upcoming artistes.
MY ROLE MODEL
When I started music professionally,
my Late Pastor and few of my fans called me Atorise, I was given this name
because of the love I have for Lanre Teriba a.k.a Atorise. His performance on
stage and messages his music is laced with made him a musician I always look up
to. I see him as a young vibrant great musician who has always acted like a
brother and a father to me. In terms of a role model, I love the life of
my great father Pastor Joseph Adelakun (Aye wa).

I got so much inspiration from his
lyrics and I see him as my role model. He has all it takes to be called a
fulfilled gospel artiste.
IF NOT MUSIC…
If I was not privileged to be a
musician, I would have loved to be a Lecturer. I love impacting knowledge and
also brainstorming to get new ideas.
FEMALE FANS AND I
Female fans… Uhmmmm, I thank God for
giving me my ribs; she's been like a mother all along. My major fans are
females and they have been very friendly with no feelings attached
(smiles). I know how to handle them and they never go beyond limit. My career
is very important to me, though discipline but homely with my female fans. I
can say clearly that I am 100% safe in their hands.

I have a very good and
smooth relationship with other artistes, that day shall be great, the following
top gospel artistes are coming; Esther Igbekele; Dare Melody; Mega 99; Biola
Fame; Aduke Gold; Biyi Samuel; Rotimi Onimole (Oba Ara); Dele Harmony; Dele
Gold and many more.
The event will come up at GABOVIS Hall, Aina
street, Ojodu bus stop, Berger Lagos. Red carpet will commence by 2pm, while
program properly will follow immediately after interviews on the red carpet.
